Special guest DJ Prince of Persia is on the decks, for a global Balkanbeat edition of the Friday Ripple. From Jerusalem, DJ Prince of Persia brings a mash of European, Asian and Caribbean sounds, anchored in a Balkanbeat vibe.
DJ Prince of Persia is part of the Jaheuzalem Calling posse of DJs and promoters, organising reggae parties and live Balkanbeat concerts in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Over the last 5 years his style has evolved from strictly reggae to a global Balkanbeat fusion, mixing European, Middle Eastern and Caribbean influences.
But why the name “Prince of Persia”?
Says Uriel (his real name), “It took me a while to accept this name! It started as a joke, some friends - my parents are Persian, so that’s the story. We just started rolling with this name, I tried to change it a few times, but probably I’m stuck with this name - maybe it’s not so bad!”
