Martin Klusák

composer (born 1987)

Martin Klusák began composing first as a student of FAMU (Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague), later as an independent sound-designer and his compositions were related to his work with film sound and music.

Since 2010 when he started studying composition at HAMU (Music and Dance Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) under professor Ivana Loudová, he has been focused also on concert composing. He is frequently inspired by the influence of film works and the elements of film speech. Part of his work is also influenced by his own research of the theory of consonance and dissonance.

In spite of having been active for a short period of time, he has received many awards, e.g. in competitions of Prague Philharmonic Choir, Janáček May International Music Festival, BERG orchestra, in Musica Nova competition and 2014 OSA Annual Awards. As the author of music or sound he participated in several feature films that were shown at leading Czech film festivals (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and Jihlava International Festival of Documentary Films).
