Jaroslav Pelikán has been an active musician ever since his early childhood. Years later, at the conservatory and at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, he became more and more attracted to the flute; nowadays, he has been a flutist at the National Theatre opera house in Prague for 17 years.
As a flutist he has visited a number of countries in the role of a soloist, a member of orchestras or a chamber player. In spite of his workload he has never stopped composing. In the years 1992–1993 he lived and worked in Brazil, which thus became a significant source of inspiration for his music.
