Radio Wave Stimul Festival
The youth station of Czech Radio – Radio Wave announces the cooperation with the STIMUL Festival. On the 1st October they jointly organize the Radio Wave Stimul Festival at the Archa Theatre in Prague.
The stage of the Archa Theatre will present much more than a delicate selection of the contemporary music scene. A series of workshops, lectures and projections will be followed by a concert and DJ programme consisting of foreign stars representing several alternative genres. The highlight of the whole festival will be certainly the performance of the controversial electronic provocateur Peaches.
Radio Wave regularly organizes concerts of famous international bands, familiar to its listeners from the playlist of this youth station. The broadcasting, thus, surpasses its limits and brings their listeners a genuine first-hand musical experience. Following the performances of CocoRosie and Wovenhand in the previous years, Radio Wave Stimul Festival introduces several names this time and the scene of the festival will shine in an impressive style. The cooperation of Radio Wave and the STIMUL Festival at the Archa Theatre is another step towards more varied and richer musical offer of the radio world in the Czech Republic.
“To stimulate our listeners with new music is one of the main objectives of Radio Wave. Since we are ourselves concert lovers, we tend to aim our work on expanding beyond the digital broadcasting world,” says the Head of Music of Radio Wave Tomáš Turek. “Radio Wave Stimul Festival is another prime example that we are a dynamic and vital radio station,” he adds.
The evening and night music programme will be a real gourmet feast. The alternative hip hoppers Shabazz Palaces, a side project of Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler from the respected Digable Planets, will kick off the line-up, followed by the star of the current so-called “hypnagogic pop” wave Emeralds, a real treat for the synthesiser fans. The Danish band The City Kill will introduce their dark post-punk and the visitors of the festival will be then guided through the mysterious sounds of the classical violoncello by Hildur Gudnadóttir from Iceland. The whole evening will culminate in the dance DJ-set by the electronic superstar Peaches.
Radio Wave will broadcast the whole programme from the Archa Theatre live and the recordings from all the concerts will be re-broadcast later as well.
The whole concert line-up will be preceded by a series of lectures, discussions and workshops with Czech as well as foreign musicians. Visitors will have the chance to see screenings of video clips, recordings of concerts and music movies. “We want the Archa Theatre to live with the contemporary alternative music the whole day through,” explains the director of the Stimul Festival Jan Vávra. The fans of the quality music will be surely pleased by the price of the tickets for the whole-day programme.
