Opening of Drawing Online Exhibition: Journeys of discoveries and adventure
In the enchanting surroundings of one of Prague's parks stretching itself around the Portheimka folly and Family Centre Andílek, there gathered a couple of hundreds of participants to visit the celebratory opening of the winning artworks exhibition which were selected during the Czech Radio international children art competition Drawing Online: Journeys of discoveries and adventure.
Weather conditions were favourable for the outdoor celebration. Children could, thus, enjoy the prepared games and win small prizes, spend the time drawing, collect presents prepared for them or see the exhibition already two hours prior to the beginning of the event.
Audience was guided trough the programme by Jan Pokorný who has not only been the prime presenter of the event but also a member of the jury evaluating the artworks for a couple of years already. The group of jurors further comprised among others also of graphic artists A. Born, V. Hradecký, K. Hlubuček, I. Korpaczewski, or actress Naďa Konvalinková and musician Pavel Šporcl. Especially Adolf Born, renowned Czech graphic artist, appraised the high art level of the competition artworks in this year's annual.
The absolute winners were: Anna Čurdová, Kateřina Svobodová, Tereza Růžková, Beáta Forróová, Lucie Letovancová, Vít Pospíchal, Jakub Halamásek, Anička Tale, Tereza Havelcová, Aneta Budzanowska, Barbora Ryzcová, Pavel Pavlů, Martina Kubíčková, Vanda Sudíková, and Christopher Varga.
For the first time in the history of the competition there was announced the ´Public Award´ category. Over the span of one month, all interested had the opportunity to vote for one of the twenty selected artworks via the Czech Radio internet site devoted to children. The majority of votes were sent to: Vanda Sudíková, David Pavlík, and the group of V. Jelínková and I. Moravová.
This year's competition also welcomed visually impaired and blind children among the participants. Their handicap did not prevent them from winning through to the final among the absolute winners.
All visitors appreciated the carefully arranged exhibition. Beautiful surroundings of the Portheimka folly intensified the special atmosphere but did not detract the playfulness of the whole event. Art workshops were provided for the visitors of the exhibition throughout its whole duration and parents with small children had the possibility of taking advantage of the Family Centre Andílek playrooms.
The exhibition was open for public until 3rd July. All foreign participants of the competition will receive their certificates and presents by post during September.
