New Agreement on Cooperation between Czech Radio and Radio and Television of Slovakia
On the 1st March new bilateral agreement between Czech Radio and Radio and Television of Slovakia came into force. Both organisations have confirmed their mutual cooperation in both the programming as well as non-programming areas. The agreement has been signed in Mikulov by Directors General of both of the institutions, Mr. Peter Duhan and Mrs. Miloslava Zemková.
“The aim of the agreement is to extend the radio and cultural exchange between the Czech and Slovak Republic, which concerns mainly pop and jazz music programmes, radio drama and other types of spoken word programmes and also archive recordings,” says Peter Duhan, Director General of Czech Radio. Every year the radios devote their broadcasting time to present their neighbouring country in the Week of Slovak and the Week of Czech culture.
The result of the newly concluded agreement is the arrangement of concerts of contemporary bands and musicians, which will replace previous the so-called Castle Concerts. The selection of bands of the newly launched series of concerts will be ensured by stations for the young: Czech Radio - Radio Wave and Radio_FM from Radio and Television of Slovakia. Both broadcasters intend to support contemporary Czech and Slovak music and aim their activities at young audience. However, both organisations will continue to share also other musical recordings and support other music genres of their neighbouring country.
“Intensive cooperation will take effect for instance during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of Czechoslovak Radio and 20th anniversary of independence of both states,” adds Duhan.
The agreement has been concluded for three years with the possibility of prolongation for two more years.
