Czech Radio analyst Filip Rožánek received a prestigious Google Award for promoting innovative online journalism
The jury awarded Filip Rožánek for his social media project that reconstructed the historical events of August 1968.
The jury said: “If there was anything innovative happening on the Czech Internet during last year, it was the August 1968 Project in which social media joined their forces for unique historical news reporting in real time. The jury also appreciates the publication of electronic summaries designed for various platforms (PC, tablet, e-book readers), containing all updates on the individual events of 1968 as they were published on social media.”
He was among 11 winners of The Journalism Award 2013, competing against 400 contest entries. The awards were given at a ceremony in Gallery Louvre in Prague on April 29 2014.
