René Zavoral Elected as Czech Radio’s Director General
René Zavoral has become Czech Radio’s new Director General. He was elected by the Czech Radio Council at the Council’s public meeting held earlier today. Czech Radio’s new Director General will begin his six-year term on January 21st 2016.
The new Director General, René Zavoral, said: “Czech Radio has a reputation of a reliable institution with a long-standing tradition. It is my great honour to be able to continue in developing these values as the broadcaster’s Director General. I believe that Czech Radio’s task is to remain a reliable source of information and an open public service medium promoting education and culture. A medium that will stimulate the listeners, broadening their horizons and acting as a responsible companion in various life situations.”
Since 2013, René Zavoral (39) has served as Czech Radio’s Deputy Director General for Programme and Broadcasting. Previously, he held the position of a Deputy Director General for the broadcaster’s strategic development, having earlier worked as the station’s Communications, Marketing and PR Director. Zavoral has been employed with Czech Radio since 2001, with a short break between 2005 and 2006, when he worked in the field of corporate communications at Komerční banka. He is also representing Czech Radio in the prestigious Radio Committee of the EBU associating European public service broadcasters.
