Czech Radio Hosted a Meeting of the Radio Committee in Prague
On Thursday, January 25, 2018, a meeting of the Radio Committee of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) took place in Prague. CEOs and representatives of public service media from across Europe have spoken among other topics about digitization as one of their common priorities and the role of public service media in Europe.
On the agenda of the joint meeting of the Radio Committee, in which Czech Radio Director General René Zavoral serves as Deputy Chairman, was a wide range of topics, including radio innovations, program and music exchange, radio broadcast availability and digitization issues. The development of the existing projects, which were presented at the May plenary session of the Radio Assembly in Pilsen, was also discussed.
"The EBU Radio Committee presents a unique opportunity to discuss with colleagues from abroad the problems and challenges of public service media that are very similar within Europe," said Czech Radio Director General René Zavoral.
Composed of 14 members, the Radio Committee is the main governing body of the EBU. It makes decisions on strategic priorities for radio broadcasting in Europe. The committee also forms joint opinions of public service radios on legislation, copyright issues in the field of music production and digitalising, and supports the development of radio broadcasting in EBU member countries.
