The fate of refugees and the outcome of the war in Ukraine. What interested children at the special press conference?
Do you have questions regarding the situation in Ukraine? Do you not understand why there is a war and what the consequences might be? Children had the opportunity to ask several experts some questions to make sense of what is happening.
Czech Radio and Junák - Czech Scout organized an extraordinary children's press conference on Wednesday, March 9th at 4:00 pm. It was open to all who were interested in the current crisis in Eastern Europe. Children representatives asked several speakers - experts in various fields – about the war and its impacts.
Do you want to know what is happening in Ukraine, what is happening in our country, what to prepare for, how to handle the fear or how to act toward Ukrainian children? These questions and many others were addressed during the conference.
Deputy Prime Minister, Vít Rakušan, was unfortunately unable to attend the conference due to work. A video of the discussion is here.
The special experts at the children's press conference were:
Štěpán Vymětal, an expert in the psychology of crises, disasters and trauma
Petra Wünschová, psychotherapist, LOCIKA Centre
Jakub Lucký, Foreign News Editor, Czech Radio
Richard Smejkal, Head of the Red Cross Crisis Team
Natálie Dubanevičová, scout leader and volunteer, Ukrainian
Moderated by Barbora Trojak, Scout spokesperson.
The children had so many questions that the discussion continued even after the official end of the press conference.
